Warwick Road Planned Closure Number of Days Reduced

Thanks for your efforts Horley Parish Council and other affected villages we have now a reduction from 8 weeks to 2 weeks that the road will be closed. Here the email from the contractors and a copy of the letter from Thames Water:

Good afternoon,
I am writing to send you the enclosed update letter regarding our revised plans to close Warwick Road.
We have been able to reduce the duration from eight weeks to two and will hope to improve on that.
I realise that the diversion route is not ideal and understand concerns raised but we have a bit more time to resolve some of those issues now.
I would be most grateful if you would please circulate this information among your parishes.

Special Parish Council Meeting – July 14th

Are you concerned about the impact on our village of the closure of the B4100?

There will be a special Parish Council meeting at 7.30 on Thursday July 14th in the Old School to consider the closure of the Warwick Road for 8 weeks starting on 10 August.

This meeting is open to the public.

Agenda Items:

  1. Apologies
  2. Declaration of Interests
  3. Recently the Council has become aware of plans to close the B4100 Warwick Road for a period of 8 weeks from 10 August to 6 October, to facilitate the building of a new sewer.  The closure will be in the vicinity of Dukes Meadow, and will mean that traffic from Horley into Banbury will be required to find an alternative route.  The Parish Council has not been consulted on these proposals, and has had no opportunity to comment.Oxfordshire County Council has been invited to provide an officer to attend the meeting to provide further details, to explain the reasons for the road closure, and the measures which will be put in place to minimise the impact on Horley.
  4. Date of next meeting: 25 August 2016

Parish Council Tidying Up the Village Saturday July 9th

TidyUp2[1]The Parish Council has agreed to carry out some work to tidy up the area of land at Wroxton Lane, next to the Old Council Houses and opposite Horley Mill.

Oxfordshire County Council has confirmed that this land is public highway, but it is not covered by any maintenance contract.  Consequently the Parish Council has decided to act in order to tidy the land up. The work is planned to take place on Saturday 9 July.

The 3 P’s? Well they are usually Pooh, Parking, Planning…..don’t miss out on your chance to have a say. Are there things you want to see our Parish Council tackle? Are  you satisfied with the current priorities?

This is a public meeting, although it is organised by the council, and is designed to let everybody know what the council is doing, and more importantly, to give people the opportunity to tell the council what they think they should be doing!  Are people happy with the council’s priorities, such as the provision of a play area, or do they feel they should be focussing more on other things such as environmental improvements?  Here is the opportunity for people to have their say.

2 Ways to Save on Heating Oil…..

village noticeboard poster [460145]-page-001Save money on the cost of heating oil and help oil companies make most efficient use of delivery lorries.

The Community First Oxfordshire (CFO, formerly ORCC) Oil Buying syndicate brings communities throughout Oxfordshire together to make the most of joint buying power. Not only do you get the best price, but the oil companies can make the most efficient use of delivery lorries (and fewer journeys to a particular community helps the environment).

Members of the scheme have the advantage of knowing that they are getting a competitive price without the trouble of ringing round all the suppliers, and orders of the minimum quantity (500 litres) get the same price as much larger quantities.  You will be contacted by your local coordinator, David Marriott, twice a month by email, and all you have to do to place an order is let him know how much you want.  The order will then go onto a list tendered by a professional oil purchasing company to get the best price available, and the oil will be delivered about two weeks later.  The oil purchasing company will collect the sum due by direct debit after the delivery has been made.

For further information on the CFO oil scheme visit their website here, or visit the Parish Council Noticeboard,
