September 2015 End Of Season Update
It has been a very good year at the cricket club with only one match being lost to the weather, we continue until the second week in September then we close for the winter!
The Junior teams have played very well this year with the U’13s reaching the County Finals which will see them playing their final match in September, we wish them good luck. As ever our Tuesday evening coaching sessions have been well attended with nearly 70 children registered. We will hold our parents v children’s match on Sunday 6th September, 10am start with a BBQ and Trophy presentation to follow.
Both senior teams are mid league at present with only 2 matches left to play, the second team took a few matches to get used to the new format but have played well and should stay in Division 6 next year. The first team play in Division 3 and are mid table however anyone of 5 teams could currently be relegated so hopefully they will win one of their remaining matches to ensure safety.
The Sunday team have also had a good season, they have played a lot of matches and Dave Eaton the Sunday Captain has played and encouraged the Ul15’s during the games. We hope to see some of the young players in the second team next year.
Summer games evening was another enjoyable night, the competition to win races is great to see and our thanks go to Mike Patching and the team from the Michael Hardinge Trust and of course Noel Keenan for his chirpy encouragement in getting people to compete!
Last Sunday was Presidents day and it was lovely to see so many people at the ground, we started earlier in the day, 12.30 and played a 40 over match, with the Horley XI winning narrowly by 2 wickets.
Date for the Diary- Saturday 24th October Dinner Dance at Bloxham School, our theme this year is the Great Gatsby. Further information will be on our website or please contact Rosie Beck.
All our events and fixtures re on our website www.horleycc.co.uk or log on via the village website . Thank you to everyone who has been at the ground and supported the Club this year we do appreciate your support.
Kind regards, Judith

2015 New Cricket Season Update
It is a beautiful day as I write of the season to come and soon we will be back at the Cricket ground for the summer. Cricket comes round very quickly after Christmas and our planning is well under way – machinery is being repaired thoughts are turning to our working party weekend on the 28-29 March and then the cricket season begins at the end of April.
At our AGM in November the club voted for Dave Taylor to remain as 1st Team Captain, Julian Wright stood down as 2nd Team Captain, and Mark Tubb was asked to take on the role having been vice for the past few years, Dave Eaton has taken over as Sunday Captain. Julian now takes on the role of Club Captain and we wish them all well for the coming season.
Our season starts on Saturday 25th April with both teams playing Cropredy home and away in friendly matches – the first team playing at home. The following Sunday May 3rd we play Great Tew in our first venture into the Village Cup – a knockout competition which ends up with a day at Lords for the finalists. We then host the England Deaf cricket team on the Monday 4th May, this is a great honour for the club and a day we are all looking forward to.
The League then starts in earnest on Saturday 9 May with the first team hosting Bicester & North Oxford at home and the second team travel to Didcot.
Our plans for the new pavilion are progressing and we will continue to keep you informed and updated when we are in a position to do so.
