The first of the ‘The Horley Winter Talks’ is on January 13th 2017…

The Michael Hardinge Trust are holding the first of a series of fundraising talks at the Old School on Friday 13th January at 7.30. There will be a series of these talks throughout the winter by local people. The next one, ‘Digging up the Dead’ (see below) by Dr Druin Burch  will be on Friday March 3rd.

Any young person from the village who currently qualifies for a Michael Hardinge grant can attend free of charge.

The Michael Hardinge Trust are holding the first of a series of fundraising talks at the Old School on Friday 13th January at 7.30. There will be a series of these talks throughout the winter by local people – three others are earmarked and will cover such subjects as Oxfordshire History, Medical History and possibly life as a sub-mariner.

Any young person from the village who currently qualifies for a Michael Hardinge grant can attend free of charge.

Cinema Club – this Friday night

“Friday night at the movies” on 18th November is showing ‘Our Kind of Traitor’ and the Children’s cinema club is showing ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’ on Saturday; see details below:

Next Parish Council Meeting – Thursday November 17th

The next Parish Council Meeting will take place at 7.30 on Thursday November 17th in the Old School Room. The meeting is open to the public, and if anyone wishes to address the Council on any of the items on the agenda, please notify David Marriott on  0787 2930030 or horleyparishclerk@btinternet.com before the meeting. Whilst there is no absolute right to do this, the Chairman has the authority to permit it if he chooses to do so.

No ‘Knit and Stitch’ Now until 8th Sept

As there is a referendum vote being held in the Old School this Thursday, this week’s ‘Knit and Stitch’ Group meeting is cancelled. There will then be a summer break before the next one.

Summer Fete – Next Saturday 25th June

Picture2Horley’s Summer Fete  is NEXT Saturday 25th June, lots of work has gone into making this annual event special so make sure you get there from 2 to 5pm, in the Old School and Church.

Stalls include the tombola, plants, bric-a-brac, splat the rat, homemade cakes, nice or nasty jars, water or wine and many more.

Wandering minstrels, refreshments – teas, cakes, Pimms and a barbecue

Raffle Prize Draw – first prize £100 cash, second prize a BMW for a weekend.
