Remarkable Achievement for Cricket Pavilion Fundraising

HCCHCC Pavilion plans-front

Way beyond the wildest expectations here’s the July Fundraising Update:

Sunday 10th July 2016 was a pretty remarkable day at Horley Cricket Club, apart from one early light shower, the sun shone all day. The club came together across all playing age groups, social members, supporters and villagers to raise on total over £2,500 for the new pavilion fund – way beyond the wildest expectations of the Fundraising Committee.

The day further emphasised what a great club this is and how it richly deserves the new facilities that it will eventually get.

There are too many people for the Fundraising Committee to thank so huge apologies in advance for those names missing off this list but here goes in no particular order(!): Ross; Terry; Clive; James; Jamie; Claire; Richard; Mark; Sue Row; Sue Row’s sister; Rosie; all juniors who played in the morning and all parents who supported them; all those that offered Promises for the Auction and all those that bought Promises; all who offered items for sale that have been held over for an auction of physical items later in the season; all 1st & 2nd team players that both played and supported; and finally thanks to playing friends of Horley from Long Compton CC and Sibford CC and their families.

A very high benchmark has been set and we now have a stockpile of physical items to auction later in the season. We’ve had new ideas for Fundraising including a Cheese and Wine Winter Evening – which will happen. Please keep the ideas coming. We are continuing positive funding discussions with ECB, OCB, CDC and Sport England but these processes are typically quite slow – bear with us. Many have asked when we can start to see some of the ‘Batometer’ on the pavilion beginning to be coloured in – watch this space!

Some more dates for your diary are below.

Fri 22nd July Summer Games Evening
Sat 13th Aug V.I.P. Pimms & Presecco evening
Sun 14th Aug Presidents Day
Mon 29th Aug Children’s Fundraising Day
Sun 4th Sept Parents v Children’s Match
Sat 15th Oct Annual Dinner Dance at Bloxham School

The cricket club bar is open whenever there is a match being played in addition until the end of July we will be open

  • Tuesday – Thursday 6:00 – 10.00
  • Friday from 6:00
  • Saturday and Sunday 2pm onwards

Please feel free to come along have a drink and watch some cricket

Huge thanks to all one again

Family Fundraising Cricket Day – This Sunday 10th

Family Fundraising Cricket Day

We are very excited to announce the details for our upcoming Family Fundraising Cricket Day this Sunday. The day will run as follows  (all timings are approximate):

10am  –  Juniors cricket match
Midday  –  BBQ Farm shop burgers and sausages
1-2pm  –  Promises Auction
2pm  –  Adults cricket match

All comers are welcome on the day, including non-club members.  Please contact fundraising@horleycc.co.uk to let us know if you or your children would like to play.

If you are unable to be there on Sunday, but don’t want to miss out on bidding for some of our fabulous promises (see below), you can email fundraising@horleycc.co.uk with a ‘commission bid’. For this you need to  tell us the MAXIIMUM you would bid for that Lot. As with ebay, you won’t necessarily pay that total amount if you win. Bids will go up in increments so you could win with less than your maximum bid. However, if bidding goes above your maximum bid you will not win.

If you are coming for the juniors match, please stay on to support the adults, many of whom are parents who will be needing all the support they can get! Bring a picnic and make a day of it. The bar will be open all day.

So… here are the Lots for the Auction of Promises! Thank you SO much from all at the club to everyone who has kindly donated and committed to giving up their time. We were overwhelmed by the response. Some items offered were goods rather than services and we have decided to hold these back for another auction later in the year.

Special Parish Council Meeting – July 14th

Are you concerned about the impact on our village of the closure of the B4100?

There will be a special Parish Council meeting at 7.30 on Thursday July 14th in the Old School to consider the closure of the Warwick Road for 8 weeks starting on 10 August.

This meeting is open to the public.

Agenda Items:

  1. Apologies
  2. Declaration of Interests
  3. Recently the Council has become aware of plans to close the B4100 Warwick Road for a period of 8 weeks from 10 August to 6 October, to facilitate the building of a new sewer.  The closure will be in the vicinity of Dukes Meadow, and will mean that traffic from Horley into Banbury will be required to find an alternative route.  The Parish Council has not been consulted on these proposals, and has had no opportunity to comment.Oxfordshire County Council has been invited to provide an officer to attend the meeting to provide further details, to explain the reasons for the road closure, and the measures which will be put in place to minimise the impact on Horley.
  4. Date of next meeting: 25 August 2016

Horley Pavilion Appeal – 6 Ways You Can Help

6 ways to help Horley CC Pavilion Appeal

posted in: Maintenance, Marketing |

On Thursday 24th March, we launched an appeal to raise £300,000 to build our much-needed new pavilion. This exciting new project will transform the facilities at the club and will be fitting for a club that serves so many cricketers, young and old, from Horley and many other local village communities. Many friends of Horley CC have already involved themselves in the pavilion appeal.

There are 6 ways that YOU can help:

  1. Ask your employer to buy an 8ft perimeter Banner (£300 for 2016 season, £500 for 2 seasons).
  2. “Buy-A-Brick” – get your name on the wall of the new pavilion with a minimum £10 donation. We will send out the link for donations in the next few weeks.
  3. BBQ Tuesday evenings and Bacon Butty Sunday mornings – come down to the ground and feed yourself & the kids!
  4. “Offer a Promise” – to be auctioned at lunchtime at the ground on 10th July (professional services, lawn-mowing, baby-sitting, shopping, 121 training etc etc).
  5. Pay Social Member subs – find Sue Moon when you next come to the ground. Minimum £5 fee ensures your non-playing membership so you can enjoy bar facilities and hospitality for the entire season.
  6. Come up with your own fundraising ideas – email fundraising@horleycc.co.uk with your own ideas. All ideas welcomed!

We do hope that you can support your brilliant local cricket club to develop new facilities and through this, to secure its future for generations to come.

Many Thanks
