Over £1700 Raised on Behalf of Beverley and Pancreatic Cancer UK
On Tuesday 6th June Beverley wrote about her friend Rozalind:
‘On the 3rd of June my beautiful friend Rozalind Beresford ran long and hard, through ponds, enduring the cold and mud and jumped over obstacle for 1 hour and 34 minutes. Her endeavours raise funds £1,512.36 + £193.75 gift aid for the devastating disease of pancreatic cancer that has sadly afflicted my family not only once, but twice within a matter of four years.
Roz did a remarkable job of coming 7th out of 250 women.
It has taken me over two years before I could actually even say the word “cancer”. It was too difficult to say without having an emotional reaction. My heart was so broken, just the word cancer had an overwhelming powerful negative effect.
I replaced it with the word “condition”. I felt the word cancer had such negative connotations that it would hinder me and replace my strong need for a positive outlook. I had to learn fast to train my mind to respond to ‘incoming data’ without fear. So I had to step into tomorrow without apprehension and not waste time with worry. Rather fill the time with creative thinking about how to move forward no matter what happens, no matter how the odds are stacked against you.
Anyway I digress, back to the cause,
This post was always about the huge thank you to everybody who made such wonderful generous donations to Roz. John, myself and Rozalined have been blown away by the generosity.
Thank you for from the deepest part of us.

Your Chance to Support Pancreatic Cancer UK and Beverley
CANCER RESEARCH CHARITY RUN
As some of our Horley villagers may know, Beverley Williams has been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. Her mother died of the same disease 4 years ago, in the same year that Beverley & Johnny moved to Horley.
Beverley has been stoic in her fight with the condition which started with an initial diagnosis in October 2015. The couple are grateful for the discreet support offered by many of their friends here in Horley.
A friend of Beverley’s, Rosalind Beresford, is taking part in a “Wolf Run” on 3rd June to raise awareness and for charity donations for Pancreatic Cancer UK through the following link on the JustGiving website.
If you would like to contribute to Rosalind’s cause, please go to the link.

Jammin’ 4 Gary – 1st May
A huge thank you to everyone that came and those that helped make wonderful tribute for Gary possible. It was everything we’d hoped for and more, we feel very blessed having such a fabulous family and friends, and being a part of such an amazing community. We were so moved by the palpable feeling of love, laughter and the uplifting music.
We raised £350 in cash for Thames Valley Air Ambulance that has been added to the online total of £3,398.15. Thank you to everyone that donated so far as we have exceeded our target of £2500 for just one flight.
I know many of you still wish to donate so lets pay for another flight for someone else.
You can donate online https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/GaryDFox or as I’ve done for others let me have your donation and message so I can post it for you. Whatever works for best for you, my email is theboma@icloud.com .
Below is our visit on Tuesday 2nd May to meet the crew and see the Air Ambulance that landed on our Cricket Field. Thank you all again for love and support, Deb, Grant & Lauren xxx
Thanks for the Easter Banners…
We’re Jammin’ For Gary
We’re Jammin’ for Gary to celebrate the many roles of The Fantastic Mr. Fox and fund raising for Thames Valley Air Ambulance as they landed on our Cricket Field to help him.

One of the many roles Gary played was that of a “Pied Piper”; he managed to get so many children and adults to join in the concerts that we started in Horley. Gary loved reggae and a strong bassline, so its “gonna be all about the bass” and “we’re jammin’, jammin’, we hope you like jammin’, too.
This event will also raise awareness for both the “Hands off Horton” Hospital campaign and the Youth Offending Service, both of which were very important to Gary.
To read more about Gary, how to make a donation to the Air Ambulance and to leave us a message please go to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/GaryDFox
Thanking you in advance, with love Deb, Grant and Lauren xxx
Please note that due to the capacity of our church this event is invitation only, we have tried to include everyone via a Facebook invite and email. However if you knew Gary and you would like to join us on Monday 1st May then please email theboma@icloud.com so if numbers permit we’ll try and “jam” you in!
