Could You Be a Volunteer Driver?

Could you become a volunteer driver and help someone like Ruby?

Volunteer Driver Service North Oxfordshire was established in April 2012 as a project of Citizens Advice.

Volunteer drivers use their own cars to provide people with the transport they need to access social opportunities and health services when there is no reasonable alternative for them to travel.

All the drivers are volunteers and give their time without charge. Passengers pay a mileage charge to help cover the driver’s fuel cost.

To find out more about our service, volunteering opportunities (no minimum commitment), or to book a journey call 0300 3030 125.

Fancy Being a School Governor at a Local Primary School?

Hornton Primary School have a couple of vacancies on their governing body. See below if you are interested in becoming one of their school governors.

‘Could you help Hornton Primary School, which recently received a “good” rating from Ofsted, get even better? We need new people to step forward to join the governing body –  people committed to raising educational outcomes of all children at our busy village school.

You’ll need to be able to work positively with others as part of a team to help lead the school – and challenge the head teacher to make sure the school is doing its very best for the children!

To do that, you’ll be given training, visit the school to see how it’s operating and be expected to attend around a dozen evening meetings a year.

We’d particularly be interested if you have experience in Financial management, School attainment data scrutiny and anyone with previous experience Chairing Governing Board or committees.

It’s a great way to put something back into the community we all love to live in so, if you’re interested, please drop Catherine Musgrove a line at c.musgrove@warriner.oxon.sch.uk

If you’re not sure, why not get in contact anyway? There’s no obligation!’

Matt Green, Head Teacher, Hornton Primary School
