Mothering Sunday – and Saturday

We had a brilliant, fabulous, fun morning getting ready for Mothering Sunday this Saturday at the Old Schoolhouse – Mums, Dads, children and members of St Etheldreda’s church exercised their creative skills making Mother’s Day pictures, posies and badges.

Many thanks to Sarah Allitt and Sarah Taylor for helping organise the event and providing flowers, and to Sue Ashdown, Kate Wythe & Fiona Taylor for extra support.

Here are some pictures to give a flavour of the event.

Tomorrow on Mothering Sunday March 19th we will be in church for a Mothering Sunday Holy Communion starting at 10:30am, with posies for mums/ grannies/ aunties &c.  Do come and join us as we celebrate and give thanks for Mums and all they are to us.

Anyone interested in being kept in touch with activities for children and families please get in touch with:

Ukraine Appeal – Update March 2023

Just a quick update for the Ukraine Appeal – the situation is grave and they desperately need food – preferably cans of food with a ring pull top that can be heated over a stove.

Also if any of the many medical people in the village have any spare or out of date medical equipment (they will take any equipment, but can’t take drugs), then I have a contact that is taking medical equipment out to Ukraine, please let Sandra know via anyone in the Ladies Guild.

As always any items that you can spare is much appreciated and Rita continues to do great job collecting and taking the items down to the teams central hub.

Items can be left in the box under Rita’s porch – if you don’t know the address please ask anyone in the Ladies Guild, as I don’t want to give out an address on this post

Many thanks, any items, however small will really make a difference.

Village Spring Clean on Saturday 25th March

The annual village Spring Clean (litter pick) will take place at 10:00 on Saturday 25th March.

If you can spare some time to help out please could you gather in front of the Old Post Office on the corner of Banbury Lane at 10:00 on 25th March. Litter pickers, protective gloves and rubbish and recycling bags will be provided by CDC.  If you have you own gloves, that would be great, as you are urged to protect yourselves against any risk of infection, and take care to wash your hands thoroughly after the Spring Clean has been completed.

Let’s keep Horley looking fabulous!

Save the date for this year’s progressive dinner!

Horley’s famous Progressive Dinner date has been set for 2nd September.
