Caroline has set up a small plant table again outside her house in Lane Close. Donations of plants welcome. All funds raised are in aid of St Etheldreda’s.
You are invited to join us at the following services at St Etheldreda:
Good Friday (15 April) – Stations of the Cross at 12 noon
Fourteen illustrations of events leading up to the crucifixion will be placed around the church and the congregation will visit each station, following the evocative story of Jesus’ journey to the cross and singing one verse of a hymn at each picture.
This will be followed by a simple lunch (soup and roll) in the Old School Hall at 12.30pm in return for a small donation.
Easter Day (17 April) – Easter Day Holy Communion Service at 10.30am
We look forward to welcoming you as we celebrate Easter. This will be a simple service with a short sermon and Holy Communion. It’s especially suitable for young families with the possibility of chocolate if the Easter Bunny arrives!
We hope you can join us for one or both of these events.
The highlight of Horley’s Social Calendar is back. The 11th June is the date to meet up with new and familiar faces and sample the culinary delights of fellow Horley residents.
We meet at The Red Lion where you will receive the first of three envelopes detailing where you will go for your starter. There you will leave your £25 – and please bring a bottle of wine per person to give your first host. After two further courses in different locations we will go back to the pub.
The Progressive Dinner is always a great night and raises very much needed funds for the church.
We are currently recruiting hosts and taking names of those attending – please contact Sarah Allitt on allittsarah@gmail.com, 07834370767 or 01295 730634
Listen out for Horley church bells being rung on Saturday 5th March between 4:00pm and 4:45pm by members of the Ladies Guild of Change Ringers South Midlands District after their annual meeting.
Thinking of the women and children in Ukraine at this time.
Rev Alicia Baker is looking to form a team of people to assist with running Church activities for children within the Ironstone Benefice. This may be in a variety of ways – for example, holding occasional Saturday craft events at village halls, visiting schools, or providing activities for children during some Sunday services. To begin with, Revd Alicia Baker would like those interested to meet to discuss ideas, possible avenues for children’s Church activities in the community, what level of commitment people could offer and what people’s particular gifts might be. Volunteers will be required to do the Church of England’s safeguarding procedures. If you would like more details, please contact Rev Alicia Baker on 01295 738593 or email rectorofironstone@gmail.com
If you have small children, would you be interested in starting or being involved a Messy Church group? If so, please contact Kate Wythe on 07791 399227 or katewythe@gmail.com
This year’s Nativity and Carol Service will take place at St. Etheldreda’s on Saturday Dec 18th at 5.00pm.
