The Game’s Up! Arty board games for all the family…

The Game’s Up!

Arty board games promise family fun

Board games fans team up with art lovers on 22 September 2018 when one of the country’s most inventive games designers will offer tips to players trying out her creations during a fundraising afternoon at Chenderit School, Middleton Cheney.

Artist Cally Trench has devised eight board games, each one original and playable yet also a one-off artwork. Bearing intriguing names, such as Gravestones and Dry Bones, Shopping Spree and Trees Versus Axemen, they are for two-to-four players of any age and take up to 20 minutes each to play.

The unusual game-playing opportunity has another arty twist: it coincides with Cally and her artist brother, Nick Trench, staging a joint portraiture show at the Heseltine Gallery, based on the Chenderit campus.

Their Siblings Cannot Agree free show runs till 29 September, displaying their striking portraits of themselves and each other. Mr Trench will be at the gallery during the game-playing afternoon to talk about the exhibition.

Run by Middleton Cheney Library Supporters, the event is 2-4pm on Saturday 22 September. Tickets: £6 for adults; £4 for children (16 or under). Buy in advance at www.ticketsource.co.uk/MCLSGor pay on the door. For more information contact Chris Craggs on Banbury 712949, go to http://www.callytrench.co.uk/board-games.html
