During Lent we at St Etheldreda’s are raising money for BYHP (Banbury Young Homelessness Project). The challenge requires you to eat the contents of a tube of Smarties then fill the tube up with 20p coins (or 5p or 1p) and bring it to church on Easter Sunday (or give it to a member of the congregation). We will provide you with the Smarties, just email or phone us (Lent starts on 14th February) and we will put a tube through your letter box.Alternatively, if Smarties are not your thing, fill a bag for BYHP in Lent by putting items of foodstuffs (dry goods only) or toiletries in a bag and bring to church and we will deliver it.Thank you in anticipation Horley.Sue Ashdown738444
ST ETHELDREDA’S CHURCHCHORAL EUCHARIST
This service of Holy Communion will, in the traditional way, bring to a close this year’s Ironstone Chamber Music Festival. The celebrant will be our associate rector, Dr Hugh White, and the choral parts of the service will come from Haydn’s Missa Brevis in Bflat, conducted once again by Dr Ivan Moseley and performed by a small choir accompanied by an instrumental ensemble of some of the players who will have delighted us in the weekend concerts.
All are very welcome.
6th Ironstone Chamber Music Festival 2017 at St Etheldreda’s ChurchTessa & Chris Howell warmly invite you to this, the sixth Ironstone Chamber Music Festival. Our Artistic Directors Lucy & Kate Gould have assembled a wonderful array of first rate musicians including a flute player from Argentina, a Violinist from Spain and a much heralded Harpist. He, Oliver Wass has won the Guildhall Gold Medal – the first harpist to do so. Previous winners have been cellist Jacqueline du Pre, violinist Tasmin Little and renowned baritone Bryn Terfel.
Some of you will remember Robert Plane, principal clarinet with the National Orchestra of Wales, who has been associated with the music for Doctor Who!
Remember that Horley Residents come at a reduced price and Horley children come free thanks to the Michael Hardinge Trust. We should like to see as many of you as possible.
Friday September 8th at 7.30 pm, Saturday lunchtime concert at 12.30 pm and evening at 7.30pm. Tickets available via Tessa on 01295 738313 or howelltessa@hotmail.co.uk. Also see our website for more details www.ironstonechambermusic.com
