Harvest Festival Service at St Etheldreda’s Church this Sunday (5th October) at 11am

There will be a traditional Harvest Festival service in Horley this Sunday:

Rev’d Guy Edwards say ‘Celebrate the goodness that God shows to us in the fruits and flowers and grain of autumn, and all that comes to maturity at Harvest time.  This Sunday at St Etheldreda’s – a traditional Harvest Festival service, with all your favourite harvest hymns.  Children welcome.’

Please bring donations of tinned or non-perishable food for the harvest offering to the Church on or before Sunday, and they will be passed on to to the Banbury Young Homeless Project.

Harvest Festival Auction at the Red Lion this Friday (3rd October)

The Red Lion Harvest Festival Auction is on Friday 3rd October starting at 7pm.

All proceeds to Katharine House Hospice. Everyone is welcome to to this village celebration. Please drop off any donations at the pub during the day on Friday.

Pet Blessing Service with Harvest Hymns at Hanwell on Sunday 21st September

There’s a very special Ironstone Benefice church service taking place at 3pm this Sunday at Hanwell Parish Church – for you and your pets!

Bring your dogs on their leads, small animals in carriers, even photos of your favourite pet. There’s a craft table for children, music by the Gospel Bell folk band and a BBQ afterwards.

Planning application for Solar Farm – revised closing date and photos requested by Keep Hanwell Village Rural

Update from Horley Parish Council:

The closing date for comments on the application is now 26th September. Comments can be made via this link:

In addition, to aid their response to the proposed solar farm, the ‘Keep Hanwell Village Rural’ group have requested assistance from Horley residents. They have requested that any resident of Horley who can see the area where the panels are proposed from their property should take a picture of the view and send it to them at keephanwellvillagerural@gmail.com.

Reminder: Ironstone Chamber Music Festival 12th – 13th September 2025

Tickets are still available for the Ironstone Chamber Music Festival in Horley on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th September. Tickets to the Friday concert are half price if you use the code FRIDAY.

This cherished festival has been running for fifteen years and is organised by the village to bring outstanding professional music to our doorstep. Acclaimed violinist Lucy Gould and cellist Kate Gould will come to Horley, accompanied by special guest stars, for a weekend of glorious chamber music in St Etheldreda’s Church. 

The programme this year includes celebrated works and lesser-known discoveries by Mozart, Beethoven, Fanny Mendelssohn, Rossini, Dvořák, and more. The concerts will be at 6:30pm on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th September. Tickets can be bought on the website ironstonefestival.com or via the box office on 07511 841 979.
