Would You Like to Open Up Your Garden This Summer?

If you would like to open up and share your lovely garden with others this summer, and raise money for Katherine House Hospice, carry on reading the following from Horley resident Anne Owen…….

“Hi, I know lots of you living in the village have small and large gardens which you enjoy working in. To raise money for Katharine House Hospice, which has provided care and family support to a number of you in the village,  I would like to ask you to, please, consider opening your garden at the end of June 2019. Any worries you may have about your garden not being good enough, too small, doesn’t have the right plants or shrubs, isn’t in flower at the end of June or people won’t be interested in it are misplaced. People love to come and look at what other people have done in their gardens, what plants trees shrubs flowers; they look for ideas they can take home for their own garden and of course they all like a cup of tea and a piece of cake!

On the tea and cake front I will be organising, with others in the village, for tea and homemade cakes to be available to buy in The Old School as well as plants.  Please consider doing this this year for such a worthy cause. At the moment I have 3 gardens participating and it would be lovely to get this up to 6 or even 8.

I am contactable by email at: anneowen123@btinternet.com  or on: mobile 07835 086411. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or just want to have a chat about it”.

Many Thanks. Anne Owen

Have Your Say: Operational Policing Survey

Survey on an increase in council tax to help protect operational policing is launched

The Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner, (Andrew Stansfield) has launched a public survey on his proposal to increase the Police precept from the Council Tax, in order to fund increased police expenditure.

Anthony Stansfeld said: “The Thames Valley Police budget has been cut by £101 million over the last eight years which has resulted in significant cuts to police officer and staff numbers. This year the Government has encouraged all PCCs to raise the policing element of the council tax precept for all households. To prevent further damaging cuts to policing and restore some important frontline policing capability I would like to make use of this Government advice and raise the council tax precept accordingly.
