Hornton & District Women’s Institute
Next Meeting: Thursday 2nd July 7.30 pm at the Methodist Chapel, Hornton.
Emma Hamer, President of the Hornton and District W.I. writes:
On Thursday 2nd July, the Women’s Institute Commonwealth Games will be taking place at Hornton Pavillion. This will be a warm up event for the major international multi-sport event held every four years, featuring thousands of elite athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. Taking place from 23 July to 2 August in Glasgow that will be an 11-day celebration that combines world-class sport with a future-focused vision. There will be the same element of determination and competition at Hornton next Thursday, but the athletes might not be quite at the same skills level. Nonetheless, WI members will compete against each other in elite sports such as Aunt Sally, croquet and skittles. There will also be a glass of fizz to help keep the athletes hydrated, so do come along to take part or cheer on the competitors. The fun starts at 7.30pm and new members are always welcome. The weather forecast is looking hot but by the evening, it should have cooled down so do come and join us.
