Reserve a table for the Coronation Celebrations – Sunday 7th May 1-4pm

Come and join us at our village celebration for the Coronation of King Charles.

If you would like to reserve a table for the Coronation Celebrations (you could go up in the morning and set up your own Coronation decorations), then please let Alison Tite, Helen Moss, Tracey Parsons or Sandra Easton know. Who will have the most regal table?

Coronation Celebrations – Sunday 7th May 1-4pm

Come and join us at our village celebration for the Coronation of King Charles.

Spend a few hours in good company in the lamb barn at Hadsham Farm to mark this historic event. The barn will be decorated and chairs and tables will be provided both indoors and outdoors, alongside the children’s play area.

Bring along a picnic and we will provide the toast – make it a day to remember before going home to watch the Coronation Concert. The Ladies Guild will also provide some delicious cakes for everyone (other volunteers’ cakes will be gratefully received)

More details to follow.

Tap dancing taster lesson – Monday 27th Feb

Are you interested in learning to tap dance? If so, come along to the Old School next Monday evening when Denise Cook, who runs the current tap class in Horley on Monday evenings, will be doing a taster lesson for anyone who’s interested.

The lesson will be from 7pm to 7.30pm but feel free to come along 15 mins beforehand to see the class who’ve been tapping for a while in action at the end of their lesson. You don’t need to bring tap shoes for this session – we have some you can borrow. It’s great fun and good exercise!

Fly tipping

A large number of bottles were seen dumped on the old ironstone railway path at the weekend. This has been reported to Cherwell District Council but if you see any more examples of our lovely countryside being spoiled by fly tipping, please report it to CDC. Here is the link:

Ukraine Appeal – Update February 2023

Thanks for everyone’s continued support for the Ukraine, our appeal for warm coats and duvets got an amazing response. They are now looking for just food items, preferably cans of food with a ring pull top that can be heated over a stove.

As always any items that you can spare is much appreciated and Rita continues to do great job collecting and taking the items down to the teams central hub.

Items can be left in the box under Rita’s porch – if you don’t know the address please ask anyone in the Ladies Guild, as I don’t want to give out an address on this post

Many thanks, any items, however small will really make a difference.

Ironstone concerts in September – would you like to help?

As you may know, Chris and Tessa Howell have stepped back from organising the amazing Ironstone Concerts in September.  However, the concerts are now under new management (wish us luck!) and will be on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th September.

If you have hosted musicians in the past, we would be delighted if you are happy to continue.  If you would like to get involved in any capacity – hosting, marketing, fundraising etc, then please contact theironstoneconcerts@gmail.com. Many thanks!

Street Light outside the Red Lion Public House

The Parish Council is clearly aware that the street-lamp outside the Red Lion Pub is not working – now for 4 months! David Beck, Parish Clerk says:

‘I have regularly contacted Oxfordshire County Council on this matter and have received various replies, including being told three times the problem was fixed!!

Having recently received a communication from OCC that the ‘file was closed’, I contacted them again.

This is the latest response I have just received..

There is an electricity supply fault at this street light and has been sent to the electricity company for repair, it depends on workload as to how long it takes but is in hand to be rectified.

State changed to: In progress.’
