The next meeting of the 3Hs Gardening Club is Tuesday 12th September at 7.30pm in Horton Pavilion. This is nominated as the AGM when members will get the opportunity to hire or fire the Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer or committee members.
See below for a message from Mike Patching:
‘We are all gathering and probably giving away most of the fruits of our collective labours to those who have not or cannot, sample the delights of gardening, so possibly all prospective members. The produce show was a great success and thanks to all who organised, entered, helped or who simply attended. Lets make next year’s even better, so if you have a friend or acquaintance in any of the Ironstone parishes, bring them along as potential members.
Remember too to bring stuff along for the bring and buy, some topics for the ‘Gardening ideas of what me might do instead, Forum. Our Speaker is Russell Attwood, who will speak on the subject of ‘No dig gardening’.
Finally remember the October 10th meeting will be the Pumpkin Contest, so now’s the time to be feeding your prized specimen and guarding it from hungry Badgers. From comments I’ve heard some suggestions there are some ‘Big-Guns’ being secretly nurtured!
I look forward to seeing you all next Tuesday, but meanwhile keep cool and enjoy this amazing autumn.‘
A reminder that the Ironstone Festival will take place at St Etheldreda’s Church in Horley on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th September, followed by a Festival Mass on Sunday 10th September.
This year’s programme for the weekend includes concerts on Friday (evening) and Saturday (lunchtime and evening), a free Children’s Music morning on Saturday and a sung Mass on Sunday. Full details are in the flyers below.
You can book for some or all of the concerts through the website http://www.ironstonechambermusic.com or by calling 01295 738566 (office hours).
We hope you can join us at one or more of these events to enjoy the amazing music on offer over the weekend.

An enormous thank you to everyone who helped to make Horley’s Progressive Dinner such a success.
£1485.50 was raised for the church which is hugely appreciated and the camaraderie and community spirit the evening engenders cannot be underestimated.
Our hosts all surpassed themselves, we know how much planning and hard work it takes and as always, we simply couldn’t have done it without you.
Thank you so much to Dave and Natasha for allowing us to descend ‘en masse‘ and then disappear into the night only to return slightly less coherently later in the night.
We will be deciding on next year’s date quite shortly and will let you know as soon as it’s confirmed. We have already had offers to host next year which is great.
With many, many thanks to everyone for such a wonderful evening from all the Progressive Dinner team.
